Why I chose Nursing?
I chose nursing because of a deeply personal and inspiring experience from my childhood. When my great-grandmother was battling breast cancer, I watched as a nurse cared for her with incredible compassion during chemotherapy. The kindness, patience, and selflessness she showed left a lasting impression on me. At that moment, I realized the profound impact a nurse could have—not just on a patient’s health but on their entire journey through illness and healing. That experience planted the seed of my passion for nursing.
Beyond that inspiration, nursing aligns perfectly with who I am—not only as a caregiver but also as a Buddhist. Buddhism teaches compassion, mindfulness, and the importance of relieving suffering, which are the very foundations of nursing. Every time I care for a patient, I see it as an act of metta (loving-kindness) and karuna (compassion), both core principles of my faith. Whether it’s easing someone’s pain, offering words of comfort, or simply being fully present in their moment of need, I find deep fulfillment in serving others in a way that aligns with my spiritual beliefs
